This year, while our historic home, The Castro Theatre, is under renovation, we are excited to keep our Christmas Eve tradition alive at Davies Symphony Hall for two performances. Artist Statement: I wrote this poem inspired by a memory I had when I was still in elementary school. My brother and I each had a paper route that connected to the other. On Thanksgiving Eve and on Christmas Eve the route service would drop the bundles of papers off at 11PM, so that the kids doing the deliveries could sleep in or spend time with their families on the holiday mornings. Everything was frosted over, glistening in the glow from decorative house lights and Christmas trees that all the neighborhood had left on.

The sky was clear, and the stars seemed to shine more brightly, making the experience feel like pure magic. We said nothing to each other as we walked, completely taken in by the potent mood. To this day, that perfect and quiet beauty remains as one of the loveliest moments I have ever had in December.
