I've found SO many cool lgbt+ people in the punk and metal scene!

I'm honestly not a huge fan of the music, but I seem to be attracted to guys who are, so I've been to a ton of different shows. As a very visibly queer and trans guy (I have blue hair and everything), I've never felt more accepted than at a punk or metal show. Why Gay Is Metal: Gaahl is “strongly opposed to Christianity,” and purports to follow a personal philosophy he terms “Gaahlism.” Again: there’s nothing Christianity hates more than gay.

Aren’t metalheads close-minded meatheads whose music, we’re told, has no redeeming social value? Isn’t heavy metal music harmful to kids, causing violence and mental illness? How can the heavy metal community be providing a platform for LGBT stars to shine?. Underground, But Out and Proud. It is also a future where LGBT musicians and fans feel at home in the metal community. I came out as bisexual at At the time there was very little presence of a online LGBT community that liked heavier music.

I started listening to metal before coming out, and later had the idea to start the LGBT Metalheads group on Facebook. Since then, my fellow admins and I have helped many people feel comfortable with their sexuality within a hyper masculine genre.
