If you only have time to visit one city in Japan, I definitely recommend Tokyo. Encountering a mix of locals and ex-pats is common in Tokyo, especially while exploring the gay nightlife. We stayed at the Park Hyatt Tokyo , which is a short drive from the Tokyo gay district. The Park Hyatt was an absolute dream.
